But on Friday, Xia Rou called him.
“I won’t come home today. Tomorrow, Zhuang Xiao and the others are going shopping. I want to skip the hassle, so I’ll just return on Saturday,” she said.
“I thought this was better since second and third brother aren’t returning today.”
Cao Yang was unable to refuse her and could only agree.
He went back home to change before calling a few people to hang out. But his interest was flagging.
They went to a club and booked a room on the second floor. One side of the wall was glass so they could watch the demons and monsters dancing like mad in the pool below.
Everyone had noticed that Cao Yang didn’t seem very interested. Someone brought a few ladies into the room and everyone was aware enough to leave the slimmest waist for Cao Yang.
But the moment Cao Yang noticed the heavy makeup on that girl’s face, he lost interest.
He balanced a cigarette between his teeth and looked down. His eyes were attracted to a scene below.
A girl was being lifted up by a man to the stage.
Her waist was very slim and her legs were long; she hadn’t dyed her hair and it was long, curly, and she seemed very young. At first glance he thought…
He took a few more glances at her. Translated by The Novelst
Huo Yaogang was sitting beside him and followed Cao Yang’s gaze and laughed. “What, you prefer ordinary girls nowadays?”
Cao Yang smiled without response.
He drank another round and glanced at the stage below again. The girl who looked like Xia Rou was still happily twisting her body on the stage. Her dance was seductive and fascinating, attracting quite a few men below.
He looked at his watch. Now, Xia Rou was probably done eating with that Wei Qi. It was almost time for her to return to her dorm, he thought.
He didn’t know why but his heart was annoyed.
He stood up to walk out of the room, wanting to call Xia Rou. But the ambient noise in the club was too loud so it was impossible to talk in the hallway. So instead, he walked to the bathroom.
A young couple was embracing just outside the bathroom, all lovey-dovey.
Cao Yang glanced at them.
Ever since Xia Rou got a boyfriend, every time Cao Yang saw this kind of young couple outside, he couldn’t help but take a few more looks at them. He wasn’t sure what was wrong with him, either.
He just wanted to know if Xia Rou had returned to her dorm yet, but he didn’t expect the noise from the other line would be overwhelming as well. It was loud and messy. Just by listening he could tell she wasn’t in the cafeteria.
Cao Yang’s face turned dark. He shouted, “Where are you? Why haven’t you returned to school yet?”
Because the background was noisy, he had no choice but to speak louder. It sounded a little fierce.
Xia Rou was shocked by his tone. She stuttered, “N-No. I’ll return later!”
“Where are you?” he asked.
Xia Rou told him the location. It was a bar street in the city.
She had even gone to drink?
Cao Yang began to rage: “Wei Qi brought you to drink?”
“No!” Xia Rou explained quickly. “We just came to play. I’m drinking juice.”
She was drinking juice? Then what was that kid Wei Qi drinking?
It could only be alcohol.
“Can’t you see what time it is now!” Cao Yang scolded. “Hurry and go back to school!”
“Alright! Alright! I’ll go back now!” Xia Rou quickly said.
Cao Yang hung up the phone, the anger in his chest was still hard to quell.
She was really becoming rebellious as she grew up! He had already told her not to drink without him and not to drink alone with a man, yet she was still toeing that line!
She couldn’t understand how strongly alcohol could catalyze a man!
Cao Yang tried to calm himself before the mirror for half a day and pulled the door open and left.
The couple who had been lovey-dovey just a second ago seemed to have started an argument. The girl was crying and hitting the boy, and the boy pushed the girl a few times but was unable to get away. Annoyed, he raised his hand and slapped her.
She was caught off guard and fell to the ground.
She cried as she got up, grabbing on hard to the boy’s clothing. The boy raised his hand and prepared to slap her again, but something stopped him.
Before he could see the person behind him, he was punched in the face and his entire body folded.
A nosebleed splattered blood all over.
Cao Yang was not in a good mood, and drank some alcohol. Seeing a man hit a woman… There was no need for him to show mercy.
He knocked the boy down with just a punch and went over to kick him a few times.
The girl screamed as she covered the boy’s body to defend him, shouting, “Stop hitting him! Stop hitting him!” Her face was covered in tears and snot.
Cao Yang stared at her, gaze gloomy: “He hit you and yet you’re still defending him?”
The girl cried, “He’s my boyfriend, don’t stick your nose where it doesn’t belong! Who do you think you are to hit him!”
If it wasn’t for Cao Yang being so sturdily built and the expression on his face being so fierce, she would have rushed over to take revenge for her boyfriend.
Cao Yang stared at her.
This is what girls were!
Despite raising them so carefully, being afraid she might be treated unfairly, after she found a man she would want to defend him even if she got hit!
He wanted to protect her and spoil her, yet she wasn’t grateful at all!
Xia Rou! Would she become like this too?
Cao Yang felt a current of irritation pumping from his legs to his brain.
The girl helped the boy stand up and the two of them shrunk back, looking fearfully at the tall man before them.
The power he had shown was too frightening. Even the two of them combined probably couldn’t stand against him.
Cao Yang stared at the two wimps and the irritation almost burst from his head.
Instead, he took a deep breath and turned away to leave.
They both let out a sigh of relief but didn’t expect Cao Yang to turn back after two steps to punch the boy again to knock him to the ground.
He ignored the girl’s screaming and crying and left the club.
“Something came up. I’m leaving first.” Once he was in his car he gave Huo Yaogang a call.
“What happened?” Huo Yaogang found it strange.
“Some urgent matter,” he answered. Translated by The Novelst
Huo Yaogang tried to read his tone, and did not ask any further. He said: “Alright.”
Cao Yang hung up the phone, and with one foot on the accelerator, drove all the way to Sheng Da University.
