She searched quickly through her hastily-prepared cloth bag. The handsome man was roasting a rabbit, and coincidentally enough she had a few sweet potatoes on her hands.
“Sir, it seems like we are in a similar situation. Do you mind lending me a spot by your fire?”
“Young lady, I have never eaten such a delicious thing. What is this?”
“A sweet potato! How can it be possible that a rich young master would taste something like this?”
With such a natural setup, she was able to quickly establish the scenario of a rich young master and an idiotic poor young girl in her mind!
She began to imagine that she had already married into purple-clothed royalty, holding a golden bowl.
While she was busy getting excited all by herself, she saw a crowd of people holding torches as they rushed to the temple, and so quickly shrunk her head back. Translated by The Novelst
Mo Ruofei couldn’t help but laugh when he saw those round black eyes disappear immediately. The Lin family guards entered the temple.
“Can I ask who you are and why you are here in Yaoling Town?” The leader saw the two in the temple, and seeing the young man in finery, asked his question politely.
“I’m one of the Wangjing. I came to Yaoling Town to handle some matters. Since the inns are full, I had no choice but to make do inside the temple. Can I ask what the problem is?” Mo Ruofei replied with an easy smile.
At this time, the servant boy beside him coughed a few times. The guards noticed that the teenager on the grass pile looked sick.
The guards had been at Yaoling manor for a long time, so they were experienced. It was obvious that the coughing was due to an injury.
The guard mumbled, “The servant boy is injured!”
Hearing those words, the guards outside the temple immediately raised their swords and rushed in to surround the pair.
Mo Ruofei furrowed his brows and explained gently, “My servant hurt his back. Since we weren’t too far from Yaoling manor, I was planning to take him there tomorrow to seek medical attention.”
The thief that ran away this night was of similar age to this servant boy. They learned from Hua Buqi that his back was injured as well. The guards were unwilling to listen to Mo Ruofei’s explanation. One of the guards shouted, “This is no coincidence. It must be him!”
“That’s right. It’s possible that one entered the manor to steal the medicine and the other one was waiting outside to assist him!”
“Tie them up and return to the manor!” Translated by The Novelst
Everyone began to clamor for the credit and a brawl nearly erupted in the furor.
Buqi saw a firework fly into the sky. She knew it must be a signal to the Yaoling manor. It wouldn’t be long before more guards and masters of the Lin family would rush to the temple.
She looked back at the tall mountain behind the temple, thinking to herself that she was so unlucky. She wanted to run away, but the guards of the Lin family had managed to catch the turtle in the urn.
Inside the temple, she could hear tinkling sounds, like swords were falling to the ground. Buqi wasn’t in the mood to watch the scene, so she tried to sneak out of the temple under cover of that chaos.
But people who were unlucky could break teeth even when drinking water! She bumped into Steward Liu, who was rushing to the temple.
Buqi thought quickly and cleverly. She pointed at the temple and shouted, “Steward Liu! The thief was injured and is now in the temple! He even has a companion!”
The cold wind blew into her mouth after she used up all her strength to shout, her lungs weren’t able to take it any more. She bent down and coughed.
Steward Liu ws immediately alerted to the fighting sounds coming from the temple and didn’t notice the cloth bag before brushing past her in one second with his skilled martial arts. Buqi was so focused on his not even touching the ground that she forgot about her coughing.
Seeing the temple surrounded on all sides, Buqi looked back and thought pleasantly: Sorry, handsome guy. You’re pretty but I’m more important than anything else. Once you’ve explained it all, I should be far away already.
She tightened the cloth bag on her back and quickly entered the mountain.
