Mu Rulan hesitated for a long while, but in the end she followed Jin Biaohu, eyes locked on Mu Rulin.
The lights of the abandoned factory were broken. They had originally planned to bring Mu Rulan in to kill her, but they found that she was much weaker than originally thought. Translated by The Novelst
And at that moment, they realized they had been scaring themselves. Though the girl had a powerful background and a strong reputation, she was just a girl who grew up being doted on by her family in the end.
So the men didn’t even look her in the eyes and allowed her to walk around freely. Little did they know that the girl they so easily overlooked was scarier than an evil spirit. She was even what people might describe as a ma~ni~ac.
“It’s so dark here…” Mu Rulan’s quavering voice sounded in the darkness. “Can you turn on the lights please?”
“Women sure are troublesome,” grunted Huang Maozai. “Huh? Something just splashed onto my face! It smells so fishy, someone give me a light!” The driver scrambled for his phone and turned ont he flashlight. “What happene-”
Mu Rulan shrieked in horror, so scared that she flung herself into Jin Biaohu’s arms to hide.
Originally they were four people altogether including Jin Biaohu. There was the driver, the man in the passenger seat, and Huang Maozai.
But the man who had been in the passenger seat was standing stock still, eyes wide and horrified but unable to voice a thing as the large cut on his throat wept fiercely. Crimson blood splattered on to Huang Maozai, who was standing in the very front. Blood quickly soaked through his entire coat and dripped to the ground.
The men were stunned and they pulled at each other to rush out to the small lamp outside. They stopped and looked in terror at the abandoned factory.
Mu Rulan was so scared she burst into tears. She clutched Jin Biaohu’s clothes tightly. He looked down to see this little girl with tears on her face, looking very pitiful like an herbivore seeking protection.
Jin Biaohu was definitely not a kind person. If he was still interested in women, he would have raped Mu Rulan on the spot, but he wasn’t interested any longer.
He didn’t know why but he suddenly remembered his little sister Jin Moli and took another glance at Mu Rulan. He forgot, temporarily, his original purpose of abducting Mu Rulan alongside Mu Rulin.
“What… what’s happening?” Huang Maozai’s face was obscured by blood, his entire body trembling.
What had happened so suddenly? That was so scary!
The driver was a man just as tall as Jin Biaohu. He was also terrified but had maintained his calm. He looked at the entrance and swallowed the saliva that had pooled in his mouth.
“Inside… there might be someone inside…”
“But why would he want to kill…” Huang Maozai shuddered, unconsciously shielding his neck.
Oh god, he was standing right next to that guy earlier. What if it was him who had been killed? Or what if now, he was next, since the other guy was dead?
It was so scary! He didn’t want to die!
“M-Maybe he thinks we’ve barged on to his territory.”
“Stop talking nonsense. Let’s go now!” To be able to kill one of them so silently, the opponent was probably dangerous.
“But our car is out of gas!” The driver was anxious.
It looked like karma had come to bite them. They had come to a place so far away, miles from the city with rapidly dropping temperatures. Even if they could stay in the car, what if someone came to find them from outside?
From the driver’s point of view, the only way to survive would be to negotiate with the people inside, to let them know they had no bad intentions. At least when they rested at night, they would then not have to be worried about getting killed in the middle of the night.
Jin Biaohu looked at Mu Rulan. She shook her head weakly. “My car is also out of gas. What do we do now?”
“Call someone for help!”
“There’s no signal here!” Translated by The Novelst
“Damn it!” Jin Biaohu strode angrily to the van and opened the door to toss in Mu Rulin.
He walked around to the driver’s side and picked up a few iron rods, throwing them to Huang Maozai and the driver. “There’s no way the three of us will be unable to take on that one person inside!”
The driver spoke again. “The enemy is obscured in the dark while we’re fully exposed. It’s foolish to go inside like this.”
“Then what should we do?!” Jin Biaohu was so angry and couldn’t think about anything other than beating that person up.
The driver glanced at Mu Rulan, who was standing to the side. He waved at the men. “Since she was brought here to be killed anyway, why not ask her to go in and negotiate.”
The driver was actually the cruelest person among them.
Jin Biaohu and Huang Maozai turned their heads to see that Mu Rulan staring pitifully in their direction. They couldn’t bear the thought of laying their hands on her.
But the following sentence from the driver extinguished the fragile kindness they held in their hearts.
He said, “Do you want to live? Let me tell you, the person inside has probably been here a long time. This place is so sparsely population and that person might have a distorted personality. And he’s just killed a person: who knows if he’s addicted now and wants more!”
No matter what, how could the lives of others compare to their own?
